As a Brit, I can honestly say it's not a British thing.
I loved blur. It had loads to do on the single player, and a good online system. The courses were varied with locations a little different to most racers. Also to top it all off it was very pretty with laser beams and disco light streaks chasing after people... That and it allowed me to drive a rat look beetle :)
I hope that helps you to understand at least why some people may have liked it.
I've got no problem with spin offs and Mario based games as they are always fun and of high quality. What I have a problem with is the lack of wii U support. The console isn't exactly flying off the shelves due to the fact there is a limited amount of games available... Especially games exclusive to the console itself.
Halo is a bit overated now. But it was great in its day.
Gears 3 is one of my favourite MP's, a lot more competitive with a harder learning curve than most, giving a larger skill gap between new players and experienced (which is how I like it).
Bioshock is hands down my favourite experience this gen. It makes most game seem shallow and souless it's so good.
And borderlands, I didn't like the 1st... But the 2nd I really enjoyed. ...
Constant Sequels & Prequels... I agree with this. I am bored of playing the same games I did at the start of this console cycle. I want some new ones now.
I was just going to wait and see what eveyone announces tbh. Too much speculation and rumour is ruining it all. We've got all these nincompoops argueing "wii U isn't next GEN" - "PS4 is gonna be holy tits" - "neXtBox is gonna be shit cause microsoft are troll demons" - "Yeah but PC has der graffix"... and it's all just stupid.

I completed this last night. It's start to finish brilliant. I ended up doing all side missions and going for the collectables I was having such a good time.
A bit more details on your likes/dislikes would be good. I'm a huge fan of Alien/Aliens... but with these reviews coming out I haven't parted cash due to the fact the game looks like it's going to be another f'ing disappointment.
They could have at least edited out the guy... lets face, we know why we click these links, smoking hot red head nerds.

Halo 4 didn't have a good enough variety of play styles. If you didn't use DMR and Boltshot... you weren't playing the best weapon combo. It needs to be overhauled with a balanced class system where different playstyles are welcomed (e.g Battlefield)... that or it needs to go back to its simpler roots of picking a weapon off the ground to appease the old crowd.
Everyone is getting their grumpy faces on for LOGIC, when really he has made me dream of a handheld BF.
It had so many issues that took long time to get patched and working. I still played through it though, even with the 40 minute wait times for a game... Loved it regardless.

You're right that not all games can sell 10's of millions... but they're right that Sony doesn't market it launches enough. If you didn't keep up to date on sites like this there would be tons of great games Sony has released that you wouldn't of even heard of. I only just found out about Sly Cooper this morning because of this site.
If it is Sonic Adventure 3... I really hope they just focus on Sonic like the original. SA2 was crap mainly because flying around looking for Gems as Knuckles, riding around as a robot and pissing about as a pink chick with a hammer was all crap.
